Australia's company insolvencies by industry was 1,808 companies per month as of August 2026. Number of companies entering external administration or having a controller appointed each month, by industry. The headline line is the monthly total across all industries; choose an industry to see where distress is concentrated. The annual insolvency total says how many businesses failed, not where or when. Monthly figures by industry show whether distress is concentrated in sectors such as construction or hospitality and how it builds over time. Counts are not adjusted for the size of each industry. Data is sourced from ASIC Insolvency Statistics Series 1, Table 1.2 (companies entering external administration, by industry, monthly from July 2021). ASIC reports about two weeks in arrears, so a month appears once it ended at least two weeks before ASIC's release.
