Term Deposit Rate (1-Year): methodology
Category: Money & Markets · Unit: % per annum · Published monthly
What this metric measures
The rate banks pay on a $10,000 one-year term deposit, from the RBA's retail deposit rates.
Why it matters: What savers earn on cash is the other side of the interest-rate story, and a real return only if it beats inflation.
