Job Vacancies — methodology
Category: Economy & Jobs · Unit: thousands · Published quarterly
What this metric measures
The number of job vacancies in Australia each quarter: positions employers are actively trying to fill. A leading indicator of labour-market strength.
Why it matters: Rising vacancies signal a tight labour market and more bargaining power for workers; falling vacancies can be an early warning of a slowing economy and rising unemployment.
