Current Account Balance — methodology
Category: Economy & Jobs · Unit: $ million · Published quarterly
What this metric measures
Australia's current account balance each quarter: trade in goods and services, plus income and transfers, with the rest of the world. A deficit is normal for Australia.
Why it matters: The current account shows whether Australia is a net lender to or borrower from the rest of the world, and how reliant the economy is on foreign capital.
